Previous What's New at NECAnother NEC AMS System Passes Acceptance Test
The most recent NEC AMS system has been accepted at the University of Arizona. The Pelletron Model 9SDH-2 AMS system achieved 0.3% precision for carbon on the first attempt. This test occurred four weeks after arrival of the equipment on-site.
The AMS group headed by Professor Doug Donahue has taken over the system and begun routine carbon AMS measurements. There are now approximately twenty Pelletron systems performing AMS for a significant portion of their beam time. Eight of these systems are dedicated entirely to AMS. This does not count the eight older accelerators which are used for AMS and converted to the Pelletron charging system.
