The CARBS accelerator system is a completely automated instrument for Ion Beam Analysis (IBA), specifically Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) and high depth resolution RBS (HR-RBS).

NEC designed the CARBS system to specifically provide the same or better results as a traditional tandem IBA system, in a more compact setup and with more automation and user-friendly features.
